Australian aid supports families and communities around the world to fight poverty and inequality. Through the program Australia has:

  • given millions of children, especially girls, the chance to go to school - providing text books and upgrading classrooms.

  • made gender equality a priority, supporting women in Asia and the Pacific to be leaders and helping them tackle hard issues such as gender based violence.

  • supported communities affected by natural disasters and people displaced by war and conflict.

It demonstrates the best of what it means to be Australian - working together to care for each others in the tough times, giving people a leg up.

This strategic review must recognise and uphold Australia’s proud reputation fighting poverty and gender inequality through Australian aid. We want our aid program to be future focused, meeting the urgent challenge of climate change and its devastating impacts on communities around the globe.
