Half a Billion reasons

For too long girls have been seen as an add-on in Australia’s work with and for women rather than a critical group in their own right with specific skills and needs.

We already know how to make the world a better place for girls. All it takes is willingness, commitment and money to transform the lives of millions of girls from one of risk and poverty to one where all girls can learn, lead, decide and thrive.

Australia needs a stand-alone Adolescent Girls Strategy that sets out our nation’s action plan for investing in girls and championing their rights.

We need a commitment from our political parties that they will prioritise gender equality for adolescent girls in their aid and development policy platforms.
